C3 Amulet and the Precision Group to begin the second phase of Workflow Management system

Precision Engineering (who are also a partner with C3 Amulet), a Facilities Management company based in Northern Ireland , have recently finished and implemented the first phase of their Automated Service Management system, which provides 'Duty of Care' for their Water Authority clients across Northern Ireland. Duty of Care is an automated service management system, custom built to replace the previous manual system they had in place, for scheduling Tankers when emptying septic tanks across the whole of Northern Ireland

The basis for the system was based on a GPS data transmitter located on each of the tankers within the fleet. This is able to send GPS position as well as readings from flow meter on tanker. The flow meter will measure the flow into the tanker so that the driver knows how much has been pumped from each septic tank. The data is then read by PDA (connected via GPRS) and allows the amount pumped to be entered onto a docket printed from the PDA by the driver before leaving site.

The immediate benefit the system brings to Precision Engineering is an increase in overall efficiency, which brought about a reduction in fuel costs as well as labour costs. Phase 2 of the project will improve the system even further, by providing routes for the tankers based on efficiency and geographical information. It also allows Precision engineering a scalable product which can grow from within.
